I can’t believe we are wrapping up the One Room Challenge 2019 next week already! It has flown by and been such a fun experience. Nothing motivates you quite like having a whole community of talented designers also working through their own projects and sharing their progress at the same time.
Here are the links to the last four weeks so you can catch up if needed:
Week One // Week Two // Week Three // Week Four
Jumping into this week! My powder bath is in the middle of my house, on the side of the house that is shaded by huge trees 100% of the time. So, natural light is at a minimum most of the time. Currently, there is a sad, brown, BROKEN cellular shade that we have pulled up most of the time. But like I tell my clients, any time I can dress a window, I WILL.
This window was no exception, but the fabric choice was really important. I decided early on that I wanted a really pretty, but subtle stripe and collected a few samples to try them out. I always hold them up in front of the window, WITH the lining fabric behind it so that you can really get a sense of what the fabric will feel like. I even took a vote on Instagram! Most of you wanted option “A.”. And as much as I love the bold stripe, I think the weight of the fabric would be too heavy.
I want the fabric to be more on the sheer side to allow more natural light in. Ultimately, I decided on option “C”. It still has that great stripe detail, but it is a lightweight linen fabric that would be sheer enough for the space.
As for art, I recently fell in love with the work of a young artist named Josh Young. Seriously, everything he does, I want. I knew that I wanted something large scale for the wall behind the door. I love the surprise element of something really impactful on a wall that doesn’t get much attention usually. I fell in love with this line by Josh Young that felt a little vintage and a little cheeky. It brought in that modern vintage flair SO perfectly.
As for paint updates, we got everything painted on Friday of last week and to say I’m in love with how it turned out would be an understatement. Take a look at the sneak peek I posted on Instagram in case you missed it:
And here’s where my art will go:
Thanks so much for following my One Room Challenge 2019 progress and be sure to come back next week when I reveal the finished powder bathroom – I can’t wait to show you how it turned out!
