Project Reveal: Sage Green Kitchen in Burien, WA

Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share a sage green kitchen project that wrapped up last year. I had a lot of fun with this project because I got to play with color(!) and really work on brightening up this part of my client’s home.

The house itself is a basic builder home in the Pacific Northwest style. The kitchen had dark cherry cabinetry and not a ton of natural light. That, paired with the copious amounts of gloomy winter days we get in Seattle, and it desperately needed to be brightened up!

The homeowner was really into the green kitchen trend when I started this project, so we decided to go with a beautiful sage green paint color for the cabinetry, white quartz countertops, and a shimmery white tile backsplash to reflect even more light. It was definitely a challenge to lighten up this space, but we were so happy with the outcome.

Look at how the backsplash reflects the light! A fun fact about this project is that the client saw a similar tile in a restaurant during a trip to New Orleans (one of their favorite places to travel!) and really wanted it in their kitchen, so we were able to track down this near-identical match!

Another fun tidbit is that we were able to keep the original cabinetry here and paint it (Storm Cloud by Benjamin Moore) —it just goes to show that a bit of paint can totally update the look of a space!

What’s your favorite part of this kitchen?
